With colder weather settled in and days that seem like there’s very little any sunshine, it can be tough to always feel like your home is a comfy place to be. That extends far beyond having annual furnace service too, because there are a variety of things you can do to help make your home feel comfy even when your furnace is running at its best.
Here are a few that we find especially helpful here in Savage:
- Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, could mean a lot of air is sneaking out of your home. And, the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is heading outside as well. There are a host of choices that can help you shut those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are pretty simple fixes for homeowners to handle themselves.
- Change your furnace filter. This is one of the most important things you can do to not only improve your furnace’s efficiency, but also to help save you money. Plus, you don’t need to have your furnace service technician to do it, you can handle it yourself. It’s usually recommended to change your furnace filter every one or two months to get the most out of its capabilities, but some could last even longer.
- Get plants. Indoor plants can leave you with a host of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually appealing, they can potentially better your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a variety of contaminants that are emitted from a host of common household cleaners, paints and other products.
- Furnace service. This should be something that you’re already taking care of, but it never hurts to have a reminder. Having furnace service performed annually helps you make certain that your furnace is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be handled so your comfort isn’t compromised.
It doesn’t have to feel tough to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 952-373-0377 to learn more about any of these suggestions or find out more about furnaces, our furnace service or anything else comfort related.
